VISION

We’re questioning the Way the World Thinks About Art and Science

The multidisciplinary nature of the exhibitions and the meetings between different disciplines map out unknown territories where identical concepts are discussed differently according to each discipline. From our experience, the result is fascinating, and the maturity of thought that arises from it will lead the Thinking Ahead forum and the Markers art events forward.

BEYOND THE SKIN
AT THE VENICE ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS AND SATURNIA, 2024

BEYOND THE SKIN project deals with the broad field of skin, and consists of a laboratory and exhibitions.

As part of the laboratory, daily hybrid meetings will be held, with the participation of artists, scientists and commentators from a variety of academic institutions, museums, galleries, journals and social media hubs from all over the world.

THINKING AHEAD
ART AND SCIENCE
FORUM

Thinking ahead - Art and Science forum was established in 2018 by Doron Polak and Amir Cohen. The idea for the forum sprouted from the early activities of both - Polak, a multidisciplinary curator and artists and Amir Cohen brand experience designer and artist. Polak and Cohen believes in the power of connecting these fields to establish a community of knowledge and expand the artistic dialogue. Joined the curatorial team Yehuda Roth, professor of otorhinolaryngology and an artist.

Since the beginning, scientists with doctoral degrees engaged in art were invited. The first question that drove the forum's activity was examining the concept of research in the studio and laboratory. During those years, extensive discussions occurred at the Weizmann Institute, Tel Aviv University and Imperial College London, where different research approaches were mapped out.

WHY BEYOND THE SKIN?

A different approach, bringing a fresh platform of art and science conjunction.

This Markers initiative, with its bold connections established in Venice, London, Paris, Berlin and in the U.S., stands out in its uniqueness. The activity, guerrilla in nature, manages without institutional intervention or support, to hold large-scale events that manage to touch the audience and the participants themselves. The Markers project  solidifies the accumulated scientific/artistic knowledge body, insisting on a significant presence in a multinational context.
